After a long hiatus the Arts Council of Greater New Haven will bring ArtSpot! back to the Elm City. In 2008 coordinator Bobbi Griffith said to the New Haven Independent, “After 6 years, Artspot has fulfilled its mission.” Six years later the artsy happy hour returns with a similar mission for New Haven professionals.

The now seasonal ArtSpot! will occur once per season and will keep the original theme of bringing a party to various arts venues in the New Haven area. The first gathering will take place on Thursday, March 27, 5:30pm at Fred Giampietro Gallery in Erector Square. Admission is $10 ($15 for non Arts Council members) and includes 2 free drinks, refreshments, art and entertainment.

Here are 5 reasons why you should attend ArtSpot! this spring.

Because the arts matter

This is not just a line from the Arts Council’s mission statement. It is the truth! New Haven is home to a vast amount of arts venues and organizations that provide sensational culture to our town. ArtSpot! will help you discover some of those places.

City networking

Not only will you get to experience different arts venues but you’ll also meet the people that make up one of the greatest small cities. Everyone from artists to business professionals have attended ArtSpot! in the past.

You could fall in love

According to the NH Independent love was in the air at many of the gatherings. An attendee told the site, “I met my boyfriend at Artspot!” It was also reported that 2 marriages were a result of the events.

Music will also be a large part of the ArtSpot! events. Nothing like smooth jazz or an acoustic guitar from your favorite local musicians to help you unwind and socialize.

Because it will officially be spring and your cabin fever will be over

It’s been a long cold winter. If you have been glued to your couch or too cold to get out, this will be a great way to shake off the winter blues.
